Reykjavík, here we come!

And we’re off! Sitting in DIA chowing down on carnitas and green chili at Mesa Verde, after the easiest pass thru Security ever!   They were even making jokes!
Info on Iceland and its customs and language can be found on our first blog, nomadsinorden.blogspot.com, all the way at the beginning in May 2013.  We shan’t repeat it all here.  Instead, here’s a fun map of the city center: reykjavikcentermap.com.  We’ll spend three days here getting over the jet-lag, and exploring more of the city than we had time for last time.  Looking forward to eating Café Loki’s yummy skyr, and having dinner at Fisk!  We’ve also been advised that we need to get a hot-dog at Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur…
Luckily for us, we’re arriving in the middle of something called Winter Lights Festival.  Sounds like there will be something to see at most any hour of the day or night, should we not be able to sleep at the “proper” time.  http://www.visitreykjavik.is/reykjavik-winter-lights-festival and http://winterlightsfestival.is/ (don’t be scared, just click on the upper right corner for English!)  We don’t really know which events we’ll get to see…there are so many listed, it’s hard to take it in.  But a main feature of the Festival is lighting installations on many of the iconic buildings and public art pieces throughout the city.
We’ll be staying very close to Hallgrímskirkja, which is pictured on the website.  Sorry for all the links, but it isn’t always legal to “borrow” photos you find online, so we’re opting to link instead.  Once we start taking our own photos, this blog will get more visually interesting.  We hope.
